Jackson, WY – The Jackson Hole Airport (JAC) continues its high-altitude climb, reporting a 21.2% increase in enplaned passengers this September compared to the same month last year. Another strong signal that 2025 could set a new all-time record for the nation’s busiest airport located inside a national park.
According to the latest JAC data, 67,452 passengers boarded flights in September, up sharply from 55,666 in 2024. Deplanements followed suit, rising 23.6% year over year to 63,441. Aircraft takeoffs were also up 37.2%, totaling 667 for the month, compared to 486 a year ago. Fed-up neighbors in Jackson are certainly noticing the massive increase in activity.
Year-to-Date Momentum
For the year through September, 486,874 passengers have departed from Jackson Hole, up from 439,710 during the same period last year, a nearly 11% increase year-to-date. Total flights are pacing 16.3% higher than 2024, continuing the growth streak highlighted in our previous report, when JAC saw a 13.8% rise in takeoffs earlier in the summer.
United and American Lead the Pack
Among airlines, United Airlines continues to dominate the skies over the Tetons, with 27,469 September enplanements, a 42% leap from last year, followed closely by American Airlines, which rose to 23,712, up 18%. Delta and Alaska both held steady, with Delta posting 14,589 boardings (down slightly from 14,949) and Alaska at 1,682, up 25%.

Tourism Still the Jet Fuel
While shoulder season often brings quieter skies, September’s continued lift suggests that Jackson’s extended fall tourism, boosted by warm weather, fewer crowds, and high-end traveler demand, is keeping seats full even as other mountain destinations slow down.
With new winter routes slated to launch in December and strong advance bookings through ski season, JAC is on pace to eclipse half a million departing passengers for the first time in its history.
*NOTE: The October ’25 activity report will be available in December. Make sure to check back to see if the record pace continues or if the government shutdown impacts travel to Jackson.
