Inside Buffalo Trace’s Wild New Wyoming Tasting Room – A Bourbon Experience Like No Other

Date:

In a move that only makes sense if you’ve ever been trapped in a 737 holding pattern above Jackson on a 50-knot wind day, Buffalo Trace is officially bringing “America’s most remote tasting room” to Wyoming. Because when you’re one of the most storied bourbon brands on Earth, apparently Kentucky just isn’t wild enough anymore.

Welcome to “Perfectly Untamed”

The distillery’s new experience, dubbed Perfectly Untamed, promises bourbon in the middle of nowhere, and we mean that as the highest compliment. Tucked deep into what’s being called “the perfectly untamed Wyoming wilderness,” the glass-walled tasting room offers panoramic views of roaming bison while you sip small-batch bourbon and question whether you’re in a high-end ad campaign or a Yellowstone episode.

Reservations open November 13, 2025, and there’s a catch: only six total slots are available (two guests per reservation). To claim one, you’ll need to make a $500 donation to the Buffalo Field Campaign, a nonprofit that protects wild bison habitat. The exclusive tastings kick off in spring 2026, assuming you can find the place without dropping a pin labeled “civilization.”

Buffalo Trace Wyoming Tasting Room

Why Wyoming?

Because if you’re going to call something “remote,” you might as well pick a state where your GPS gives up halfway. According to Buffalo Trace, they wanted “a place where time could stand still.”

Locals might say: “Mission accomplished, especially on a Tuesday in mud season.”

Wyoming checks every box for the brand’s frontier-meets-bourbon aesthetic: wide-open skies, herds of buffalo, and just enough mystery to make you wonder whether the tasting room has its own zip code.

The Jackson Hole Connection

This move cements what we already know: Wyoming is officially high-end wilderness country. We’ve got Four Seasons après-ski bars, private elk refuge dinners, and now… a luxury bourbon hideaway.

For Jackson locals, this brings:

  • Bragging rights: Even Kentucky bourbon wants a piece of our backyard.
  • Tourism buzz: Expect “bison and bourbon” to start showing up in influencer captions by spring.
  • Content gold: “From ski poles to whiskey pours: Jackson embraces America’s most remote tasting room.”

Sure, it’s technically “somewhere in Wyoming,” but let’s be honest, anything west of the Tetons gets called “Jackson area” in the national press anyway.

My Take

Let’s give credit where it’s due; it’s a brilliant concept. But for those thinking about applying, a few quick notes:

  • “Remote” means bring a truck, not a Tesla.
  • $500 doesn’t include your flight, your flask, or your therapy session after realizing there are only six spots.
  • And yes, the bison will probably judge your outfit.

Still, it’s a perfect fit for Wyoming. Rugged, exclusive, and just a little bit over the top. If you can snag a reservation, congratulations. For the rest of us? We’ll toast you from Wild Sage, probably with a cheaper pour and a better story.
