Wyoming’s sports betting market has kicked into high gear. The latest Wyoming Gaming Commission report shows that September 2025’s online sports betting handle hit $27.3 million, up nearly 19% year-over-year from $22.9 million in September 2024.
It’s the biggest September on record for Wyoming’s growing online sportsbook industry, driven by football season, expanded betting app offerings, and a steady rise in player engagement across the state.
The return of NFL and college football sent betting activity soaring:
DraftKings led the Wyoming market once again with $15.78 million in wagers, more than half the statewide handle.
Trailing behind were:
| Month | Total Wagers | Gross Gaming Revenue | Tax Due |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sept 2024 | $22,875,228 | $2,953,222 | $144,962 |
| Sept 2025 | $27,303,548 | $2,324,125 | $104,609 |

Wyoming’s year-over-year growth highlights how football season continues to be the state’s primary driver of betting activity. Though overall tax revenue dipped slightly due to higher payout rates, the increase in handle signals steady market expansion heading into Q4.
Even with sports betting’s growth, Historic Horse Racing (HHR) remains Wyoming’s undisputed leader:
Wyoming Downs led all operators with nearly $76 million, followed closely by Wyoming Horse Racing ($75.4 million) and 307 Horse Racing ($55.3 million).
These machines continue to fuel local coffers, contributing over $1 million in city and county revenue in September alone.
Skill-based amusement games, commonly found in bars, restaurants, and truck stops, produced $10.3 million in revenue and $459,310 in state taxes during September.
Top operators included Jenkins Music, Wyoming Amusement Inc., and Entertainment Experts.
Through the first nine months of 2025, Wyoming’s gaming industry has generated more than $2.04 billion in total wagers, led overwhelmingly by Historic Horse Racing with $1.84 billion year-to-date .
While HHR dominates, September’s strong sports betting performance underscores the sector’s growing role in Wyoming’s gaming economy, particularly as football season heats up.
