Chic By Alison Rose: Taking The Jackson Hole Experience To Another Level

Date:

A new series on Antlers Arch will feature interviews with local business owners, influencers, and entrepreneurs, aiming to highlight the numerous talented and successful individuals in our community.

This week, we interviewed Alison Maxim, who recently received nominations for “Best Influencer” and “Best Dressed” in Jackson Hole. If you’re on Instagram, you’re likely familiar with her “Chic By Alison Rose” brand, as well as her images featured across local businesses and her widely recognized style.

1. What inspired you to move to Jackson Hole, and how has the transition been for you so far?

My story is similar to so many other people who have moved to Jackson; once I arrived that very first time, I never wanted to leave. I immediately felt how special it was here and wanted that feeling every day of my life. The transition has been seamless and has been a beautiful journey. From the moment I stepped off the plane, everything aligned and began falling into place. That’s when you know you are meant to be exactly where you are. There was literally no resistance.

2. How would you describe your personal style, and how has living in Jackson Hole influenced or changed it?

My personal style has always been a bit retro and bohemian mixed with modern elements. Honestly, my style fits in better in Jackson than where I am from in the northeast. What I love about the style in Jackson is you can be so free with your fashion choices. My personal style just fits better out here.

3. What’s your favorite thing about Jackson Hole that you’ve discovered since moving here?

There is really kick ass sushi! Who knew. There are endless outdoor activities to do year-round. And when I say endless, I mean endless … there are literally no excuses to stay indoors. The creatives here are so original. I am constantly impressed by other people’s ideas and creations. In addition to that, the community is so supportive of each other. It’s very beautiful to witness and to be part of.

4. How do you incorporate the natural beauty of Jackson Hole, like the Tetons or the wildlife, into your content or fashion choices?

Most of my photos are taken outdoors by my dear friend and photographer, Eva Dabill. We are constantly scouting out new places to shoot, and they almost always involve a backdrop of the mountains.

5. What’s one local spot (restaurant, shop, or outdoor location) you’ve fallen in love with, and how does it fit into your stylish lifestyle?

Delta Lake. My friend, Kim, took me there for the first time last fall. It is a 2.5 hour hike up the mountain and when you arrive it just takes your breath away. I am eternally grateful to live in what I consider to be one of the most beautiful and pristine places on earth.

6. As an influencer, how do you plan to showcase Jackson Hole’s offerings to your followers? Any upcoming posts or projects you’re excited about?

As I stated earlier, the community here is so supportive. I have had several collaborations with local brands that were so much fun. I never take it lightly when a brand asks me to partner with them, and I look forward to working with more of them in 2025.

7. What’s been the biggest surprise—good or bad—about moving to a mountain town like Jackson Hole?

I was surprised by how much music is in town and how many amazing musicians are here because of it. I love music and concerts, so this has been exciting for me. There is always a concert somewhere, both indoor and outdoor, and Jackson pulls some big musicians! One of my favorite venues is at the top of Snow King. I’m really looking forward to the concerts there this summer.

8. How do you balance the rugged outdoor life of Wyoming with your focus on style and glamour?

Well, I grew up in upstate NY, so the rugged outdoor life has always been part of who I am. I love that anything goes in Jackson, and keeping it casual is the norm. I am definitely getting my wear out of my collection of band tees, bell-bottoms, and flannels.

9. Have you connected with any local creatives or businesses yet? How have they welcomed you?

I have and they have all been wonderful experiences. I have worked with a few local brands as well as several local influencers, and each time they have not only welcomed me with open arms, but I have made lasting friendships in the process. One of my favorite things to witness in life is bonding with like-minded people and connecting on a level that is natural and synergistic. So much creativity rises to the surface and the project becomes so much better because of it.

10. What advice would you give to someone thinking about moving to Jackson Hole who also loves fashion and living vibrantly?

The only advice I would give is go say GO FOR IT! It was the best decision of my life.
