October in Jackson: Pumpkins, Ghosts, and Way Too Much Taylor Swift

Date:

The leaves are falling, the tourists are leaving (kind of), and October in Jackson is jam-packed with music, festivals, pumpkins, and just enough spooky stuff to remind you that yes, it gets dark at 6 p.m. now. Here’s what’s happening this month:

October 3

🎶 Nation of Language + Greet Death at The Virginian Lodge
Indie pop, 9:30 p.m.–12:30 a.m.
Brooklyn indie vibes right here in Jackson. Don’t worry, the $35–$89 ticket price guarantees someone next to you will still talk loudly over the music.

🎤 Rooftop Listening Party: Taylor Swift’s The Life of a Showgirl
The Cloudveil, 5 p.m.
Because what Jackson really needed was another Taylor Swift event. Themed cocktails included — you’ll need them when someone explains why Folklore was “her peak.”

October 4

🎥 Classic Horror Movie Night: Nosferatu
Riot Act Studio, 7 p.m.
The 1922 German silent vampire classic. Because nothing says “Halloween fun” like watching a black-and-white creep with talons for hands. Suggested donation $20.

🔥 Pumpkins on Fire
Center for the Arts lawn
Free, family-friendly chaos involving ceramic pumpkin firing. Translation: bring your kids, sugar them up, then send them home covered in ash and glue.

🍺 Oktoberfest at Snake River Brewing
Beer, steins, live music, and people holding mugs until their arms fall off. What’s more German than that?

🥕 Slow Food in the Tetons: Farm to Fork Festival (Oct. 4 & 5)
Learn about sustainable food systems while secretly craving McDonald’s fries. Workshops include “Steep and Sip” and “Rise and Brine” (yes, pickles).

🎨 Third Annual Jackson Indigenous Art Market (Oct. 4 & 5)
St. John’s Church lawn, 10 a.m.–5 p.m.
Incredible Indigenous art, jewelry, and performances — and zero turquoise knockoffs from Etsy.

October 5

🎶 Birdtalker with Boy Golden at the Mangy Moose
8 p.m. (doors 7:15) Tickets $24.
Another reminder the Moose books better shows than some major U.S. cities.

🚠 Jackson Hole Aerial Tram Closes for Summer
That’s it, folks. No more tram selfies until ski season.

October 9

📚 Brainstorm Series: Jia Tolentino – The Ugliness of Beauty
Center for the Arts
Writer Jia Tolentino digs into AI, Instagram, Bezos, Lauren Sanchez and whatever else comes to mind. Free, but you still need a ticket to prove you “get” culture.

🎭 “Clue” at Jackson Hole Playhouse (Oct. 9–Nov. 1)
Dinner, mystery, murder. Basically your average HOA board meeting but with costumes.

🎃 Annual Fall Harvest Fest at Wilson Schoolhouse
Pumpkin carving, pizza, beer, and the least competitive cupcake walk you’ll ever see. Costumes encouraged, pride optional.

🎶 Cowgirls at the Cowboy (Oct. 9–11)
Million Dollar Cowboy Bar — an all-female country lineup. Don’t worry, they’ll still let you buy overpriced Coors Banquet.

October 10

🌙 Garden of Lanterns Party
Center for the Arts, 7–9 p.m.
Lantern sculptures, food, drinks, and the perfect setting for that “accidentally artsy” Instagram post.

October 11

🎥 Classic Horror Movie Night: The Bride of Frankenstein
Because every monster needs a plus-one.

October 12

🏨 Old Faithful Inn Closes
And with it, the world’s slowest lobby check-in lines.

October 13

📜 National Indigenous Peoples’ Day at Jackson Hole History Museum
Rare artifacts on display plus a scavenger hunt. Free, because history should be.

🎶 I’m With Her – Wild and Clear and Blue Tour
Center for the Arts, 8 p.m.
Bluegrass, folk, and ticket prices that will make you say, “Well, at least it’s not the Eras Tour.”

October 15

🎥 Salomon: Quality Ski Time Film Tour
Center for the Arts, 7 p.m.
Four ski movies to remind you winter is coming (and so are your overdue tuning bills).

October 16

🖼️ Jackson Hole Art Walk
Self-guided gallery stroll. The wine is free, but the art definitely isn’t.

🎶 Henry and the Moguls at Silver Dollar Showroom
Live music, no cover. Translation: the Wort is basically giving you a free date night.

🎭 Off Square Theatre: The Effect (Oct. 16–19 & 22–25)
A play about love and antidepressants. Lighthearted, right?

October 18

🎥 Classic Horror Movie Night: The Wolf Man
Because apparently Twilight just didn’t cover werewolves enough.

🎃 Dornans’ 5th Annual Pumpkin Patch
Face painting, pumpkins, food, and raffle prizes in Moose. If you win the raffle, you’re legally required to yell, “I won it in Moose!”

October 20

🎶 Iron & Wine (Acoustic)
Center for the Arts, 8 p.m.
Perfect for quietly weeping into your beer while whisper-singing along.

October 23–Nov. 1

🎭 “Velveteen” at Pink Garter Theatre
A reimagined Velveteen Rabbit. If you don’t cry, you’re officially soulless.

October 25

🎥 Classic Horror Movie Night: Creature from the Black Lagoon
Spoiler: It’s not actually set in Flat Creek.

🎿 Annual Ski Swap
Snow King Sports & Event Center
That magical day when everyone thinks they’re getting a deal, but really just buys someone else’s 10-year-old bindings.

💎 Crystal Festival (Oct. 25 & 26)
Teton County Fairgrounds
Crystals, gems, healers, and your neighbor who insists Mercury is in retrograde.

October 26

🎭 Frankenstein: A Living Comic Book
Center for the Arts, 6 p.m.
Yes, Frankenstein again. October’s working overtime here.

October 31 – Halloween 🎃

👻 Trick-or-Treat on Town Square
3–5 p.m. Candy, costumes, and a new Trunk-or-Treat featuring fire trucks and cop cars. Don’t worry, they’re friendly.
