Jackson’s July Race Rundown: Footraces, Bike Battles & Brutal Climbs

As summer heats up in Jackson Hole, so does the competition. Whether you’re pounding pavement, cruising singletrack, or sprinting for the summit, there’s no shortage of chances to test your mettle. and have a blast doing it. I’ve personally raced nearly every trail and road run on this list, and I can honestly say: each one is a gem in its own right.

🏃‍♀️ July Running Races:

July 13–14: Teton Mountain Runs @ Jackson Hole Mountain Resort
Choose your own adventure: 15k, 30k, or 50k—all with spectacular views of the valley and resort terrain. I’ve run the 15k twice and loved every minute. These races are top-notch, with a vibrant crowd from across the region. Sign-up closes July 11. [Register here]

July 19: Tin Cup Challenge – Driggs, ID
Support the Community Foundation of Teton Valley with a 5k, 10k, or the adorable diaper derby. Winners donate prize money to their favorite nonprofit, and the whole day’s packed with family fun and local spirit. [More info here]

July 26: Cache to Game Trail Race
Hosted by Teton Mountaineering, this 11-mile route gains ~1,800 ft as it climbs from Cache Creek up and over to Game Creek. It’s scenic, fast, and capped with sweet local prizes. A must-do for trail fans. [More info here]

July 27: Snow King Hill Climb
Feeling strong? Tackle 1,535 ft of vertical in under 3 miles the very next day. Bonus points: enter both this and Cache to Game and you’re eligible for special recognition. After your lung-busting summit, ride the gondola down—or jog if you’re still feeling spicy. [More info here]


🚵 July Bike Races:

July 19: Colter Cup DH (Race #2 of Grand Targhee Downhill Series)
A time-trial format covering 3,900 ft of descent—this is the longest downhill race in the Tetons. Expect a few sneaky climbs and plenty of adrenaline. [More info here]

July 20: JHMR Downhill Biking Championships
Amateurs to pros welcome. Three-part race in the JH Bike Park with a $1,000 prize purse for the fastest pro. Great chance to test your skills and explore the park. [More info here]

July 26: Rock Garden DH (Race #3 of Grand Targhee Downhill Series)
Third in the four-part series, this race follows the same time-trial style on a new trail. Racers get $30 off lift tickets to shred post-race. [More info here]

Strap on your trail runners, grease the chain, and get after it. July is a big one. Whether you’re racing for the podium or the post-race snacks, the valley’s summer race scene is worth diving into. See you out there!
