GTNP Seasonal Shutdown Dates For Fall 2025

Date:

Well folks, it’s that magical time of year again in Jackson Hole. The leaves are turning, the elk are bugling, and Grand Teton National Park is slowly shutting the lights off like a bartender on last call.

If you’re planning a late-season visit, here’s the painful truth: you are running out of time to snag overpriced souvenirs, questionable campground showers, and yes, your annual goodbye slice from Dornans.

Here are the highlights (or lowlights, depending on your attitude toward seasonal staff vanishing back to their college towns):

  • Jenny Lake: Say farewell by Sept. 25 for the Visitor Center and Sept. 30 for the campground. Boating wraps up Sept. 28, so your romantic paddle is on the clock.
  • Signal Mountain: The Lodge, Campground, and even the gas pumps shut down Oct. 14. Translation: fuel up before then unless you want to push your Subaru back to Moose.
  • Colter Bay: Visitor Center closes Oct. 9, RV Park Oct. 7, and the general store Oct. 10. So yes, even the huckleberry ice cream supply chain has an expiration date.
  • Jackson Lake Lodge: Shops, restaurants, and beds all go dark Oct. 7. By then, you’ll need to cook your own bison chili.
  • Craig Thomas Visitor Center: Hanging on until Oct. 31, because someone’s gotta answer questions like “Where’s the best place to see a moose?” right up until Halloween.

And of course, the roads start dropping like flies: Moose-Wilson, Teton Park, and Signal Mountain Summit all shut to cars after Oct. 31. Hope you like skiing, because that’s the only horsepower allowed until spring.

Bottom line: If you’ve been meaning to hit the park one last time, stop procrastinating. GTNP is about to go full ghost town mode. The mountains will still be there, sure, but the pizza, the paddleboards, and the flush toilets? Not so much.
