JACKSON, WY — If you’re looking for a Thursday night activity that’s equal parts beer, storytelling, and pure, unfiltered Jackson Hole ski culture, Beers & Banter is back, and it’s bringing a full lineup of local skiing royalty.
On Thursday, November 13 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. (doors at 5:30 p.m., for those who like to secure a seat and judge latecomers), the Jackson Hole History Museum hosts a special photo presentation and panel featuring photographer and author Wade McKoy, whose new book The Arc of Skiing Jackson Hole: 45 Years Behind the Lens captures nearly half a century of Jackson’s evolution on snow.
Expect a lively conversation with some of the skiers who helped define that era, and, in many cases, redefine what the human body can reasonably survive. Featured guests include AJ Cargill, Rick Hunt, Cisco Oldani, Benny Wilson, Dave Muccino, Bob Woodall, and more. If you’ve ever bootpacked up anything in Teton County, odds are at least one of these legends was on the mountain before sunrise making you look slow.
The discussion will be moderated by Morgan Jaouen, History Jackson Hole’s Executive Director and one of the few people capable of wrangling this level of combined local knowledge and ski energy into a 90-minute format.
What to Expect
- Free admission (our favorite price)
- Limited seating (get there early unless you enjoy standing awkwardly with a beer)
- Complimentary beverages—beer, wine, and non-alcoholic options are offered for a suggested donation
- Book signing with Wade McKoy following the panel
- 45 years of jaw-dropping images, Teton lore, and stories you won’t hear anywhere else—unless you’ve spent enough time at the Stagecoach on a Sunday
The event is generously supported by Jackson Hole Winery, KHOL 89.1 FM, and Roadhouse Brewing Co.
