🚧 Heads up, Jackson and Idaho drivers: Teton Pass will not be your weekend shortcut on June 20th.
WYDOT is entering the final phase of repairs on the “Big Fill Slide” and will close WYO 22 at Teton Pass from Friday, June 20, at 6 p.m. to Monday, June 23, at 6 a.m. to complete critical paving work.
Translation: it’s going to be a detour weekend through Swan Valley and the Snake River Canyon.
Crews will be working around the clock (yes, 24 hours a day) to get it done in one shot, instead of dragging it out over ten days of alternating one-lane traffic and daily mountain backups.
As WYDOT’s Bob Hammond put it: “We thought it was best for the community if we just close the road and get the work done quickly in one weekend.” Reasonable.

🚧 What You Need to Know:
- Full closure: Mile marker 7 closure gate to Coal Creek.
- Why: Final paving ops at the Big Fill Slide.
- Detour: US 26 through Swan Valley into Snake River Canyon.
- Access: Recreationalists can still hike or bike to the top from the east, and to Coal Creek Campground from the west, but don’t descend west into the construction zone.
- Sign Up for Text Alerts: WYDOT suggests you get the latest by signing up at wyoroad.info for 511 Notify.
This is your weekend to take the scenic route and maybe grab a snack in Swan Valley. And as always, give those road crews space, respect the closures, and do your part to keep the mountain running.
