Little Greys Fire Ignites in Bridger-Teton National Forest

Date:

A new fire has been reported on the Greys River Ranger District of the Bridger-Teton National Forest.

The Little Greys Fire was discovered Wednesday, August 20, burning roughly six miles southeast of the McCain guard station. As of the initial report, the blaze had grown to about five acres, fueled by timber and grass. A visible smoke column has been spotted in the area, though officials emphasize there is no need for civilian smoke reports at this time.

***Friday 8/22/25 update: Little Greys Fire is now over 40 acres.

Firefighters were quickly dispatched, with two engines on scene by late afternoon (4:45 p.m.). An air attack and two single-engine air tankers have also been ordered to assist suppression efforts.

Bridger-Teton officials confirmed this will be treated as a full suppression fire. The cause remains undetermined.

Locals may notice increased fire activity and aircraft in the area as suppression continues, but for now, crews are working to keep the fire contained.
