Just when you were thinking about swapping your Ice Bugs for flip-flops, Mother Nature decided to remind us exactly where we live. Surprise!
The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Jackson Hole and Star Valley.
This festive little system is sticking around from 11 p.m. Monday until 5 p.m. Tuesday.
Here’s what’s on the menu:
The “Valley Floor” Special
- Snowfall: 2 to 4 inches. Just enough to make your driveway annoying but not enough to justify calling out of work.
- Winds: Gusts up to 40 mph.
- The Bonus Round: There is a 40% chance the town of Jackson could see more than 4 inches. Place your bets now.
The Mountain Report (A.K.A. The Usual)
- Passes: Teton and Togwotee are looking at 4 to 8 inches.
- Higher Elevations: Expect 6 to 11 inches, with a casual 20 inches possible in the Wind River Range.
- Winds: 55 mph gusts. Because snow is better when it’s hitting your face sideways.
Pro Tips for the Monday Night/Tuesday Morning Commute:
The heaviest snow is slated for 11 p.m. to 9 a.m., right in time to ruin your morning drive. NWS is warning of slippery roads and limited visibility. So, maybe don’t tailgate that snowplow, and remember that “4-wheel drive” does not actually mean “invincible on ice.”
