Got strong legs, a soft heart, and a free Saturday morning? Grand Teton National Park wants you, yes, you in the Chacos and sun hoodie, to join their team of trail-loving legends for National Trails Day on Saturday, June 7, at Schwabacher Landing.
From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., you’ll get your hands gloriously dirty doing some good ol’ fashioned trail maintenance. Think patching paths, rerouting rogue “social trails,” and hauling materials like a backcountry boss. No experience necessary, and yes, tools and protective gear are provided. All you need is some elbow grease and maybe a granola bar or two.
But wait, this isn’t a one-day wonder. GTNP is also rolling out weekly volunteer days “most Thursdays” through summer and fall. It’s a great way to earn your karma, meet fellow nature nerds, and contribute to the park we all love.

Before You Go Full Trail Steward, a Few Pro Tips:
- Stay on trail (even if the moose looks like it wants to chat).
- Pack it in, pack it out, no one wants your banana peel.
- Brush your boots before and after to avoid spreading invasive species.
- Be nice to people, animals, and the trail.
Because whether you’re hiking in GTNP or walking your local loop, being a good steward means keeping it wild and wonderful.
