The Dollar Lake Fire continues to burn in the Bridger-Teton National Forest and has now grown to 9,891 acres with 0% containment. Fire crews are adjusting their strategy as more resources arrive, dividing into five divisions to improve fireline construction and protect nearby structures.
BTNF is also dealing with the Willow Creek fire near Afton. The rain in the forecast this week can’t come soon enough.
Fire Activity
- North side: Firefighters are improving containment lines along Green River Lakes Road.
- South side: Dozer line construction is underway.
- Southeast side: Hand crews are scouting fireline opportunities that use natural holding features.
- Conditions: Despite monsoonal moisture returning to the region, forecasters warn of gusty outflow winds that could drive fire activity. Chances of meaningful rainfall remain low.
