Bird is the Word: Christian Cooper to Speak in Jackson August 12th

Date:

Calling all bird enthusiasts, nature lovers, and curious locals, mark your calendars!

The Jackson Hole Wildlife Foundation is bringing a serious feather in their cap to town: Christian Cooper, birder, author, TV host, comic book writer, and all-around champion for conservation, is flying into Jackson this August, and you won’t want to miss him.

🦅 Who is Christian Cooper?
You might recognize him as the host of National Geographic’s Extraordinary Birder, or from his New York Times bestselling memoir Better Living Through Birding. Whether he’s tracking Red-Winged Blackbirds or talking big ideas like racial justice and environmental access, Cooper is a one-of-a-kind storyteller who blends passion, advocacy, and humor with a deep love for the natural world.

🌎 Why does it matter?
Because Jackson is more than just pretty views and tourists in rented Subarus. It’s a hub for wildlife, conservation, and community; Exactly the kind of place where Cooper’s message of inclusivity and appreciation for nature can take root and soar.

📍 Event Details:
What: A keynote presentation with Christian Cooper
When: August 12 — Doors at 7:00 PM, Talk at 7:30 PM
Where: Center for the Arts Theatre, 265 S Cache St, Jackson
Cost: Free! (But seating is first-come, first-served. Don’t dawdle.)
Hosted by: Jackson Hole Wildlife Foundation, with support from the Jackson Hole Bird and Nature Club

Expect laughs, insight, maybe even a few “oohs” and “aahs” over bird calls. Whether you’re a lifelong birder or just want to hear from a guy who once gave the keynote at the American Ornithological Society and wrote a graphic novel for DC Comics, this event is for you.

And remember, no binoculars required.
