Kraken Ditches CA for Cowboy Country, Moves Global Crypto HQ to Wyoming

Global crypto giant Kraken has just made it official: Their new world headquarters is now based in Cheyenne. Kraken just planted their digital flag in a state that actually wants innovation (and has parking).

Why Wyoming? Because unlike other states still trying to define “blockchain” in committee meetings, Wyoming passed over 30 crypto-friendly laws and basically said, “Let’s ride.” From protecting private keys like sacred cattle to creating a fintech sandbox, Wyoming’s been playing 4D chess while everyone else fumbles with their calculators.

But this isn’t Kraken’s first rodeo with Wyoming.

They’ve already tossed $300,000 to the University of Wyoming to help students wrangle the crypto economy.
They’ve backed events like the Blockchain Stampede and Hackathon (yes, that’s a real name, and yes, it’s as awesome as it sounds).
And last year, they co-hosted the Wyoming Blockchain Symposium right here in Jackson Hole, drawing 250 of the smartest suits and flannel shirts in the business.

The decision to make Wyoming home was also fueled by the fierce advocacy of Senator Cynthia Lummis, who’s been waving the crypto flag in D.C. like it’s a rodeo queen’s sash.

Kraken’s CEO didn’t say this directly, but we imagine the internal memo went something like:

“Let’s move to a state that respects innovation, supports financial freedom, and doesn’t roll its eyes when we say ‘decentralized ledger.’ Oh, and where the office coffee might come with elk jerky on the side.”

So, what does this mean for Wyoming?

More crypto. More buzz. More bootstrapped builders looking for broadband and bison.

And for the rest of the world? It means if you want to talk serious crypto, you better learn how to pronounce “Cheyenne.”
