The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) announced Tuesday that the three-day closure of Teton Pass originally scheduled for this weekend has been rescheduled to the weekend of June 28 due to “weather delays and scheduling conflicts.”
🚧 Heads up, Jackson and Idaho drivers: Teton Pass will not be your weekend shortcut on June 27th.
WYDOT is entering the final phase of repairs on the “Big Fill Slide” and will close WYO 22 at Teton Pass from Friday, June 27, at 6 p.m. to Monday, June 30, at 6 a.m. to complete critical paving work.
Translation: it’s going to be a detour weekend through Swan Valley and the Snake River Canyon.
Crews will be working around the clock (yes, 24 hours a day) to get it done in one shot, instead of dragging it out over ten days of alternating one-lane traffic and daily mountain backups.
As WYDOT’s Bob Hammond put it: “We thought it was best for the community if we just close the road and get the work done quickly in one weekend.” Reasonable.
This is your weekend to take the scenic route and maybe grab a snack in Swan Valley. And as always, give those road crews space, respect the closures, and do your part to keep the mountain running.
